The Power of Visual Storytelling for Engaging Diverse Audiences in Nature and Science
June 17 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Samantha Stephens is a biologist turned visual storyteller. She uses photography and film paired with compelling written narratives to tell stories about people and the planet, with the aim to foster appreciation for the natural world and the work that helps us understand and protect our shared home. Samantha is a National Geographic Explorer and a photojournalist-in-residence at the Algonquin Wildlife Research Station, where she has been documenting their long-term monitoring projects on turtles, salamanders, and small mammals. In this presentation she’ll share stories that she has photographed, behind-the-scenes adventures and demonstrate the power of compelling visual storytelling to capture hearts and minds.
