LIVE ‘Ask-the-Researcher’ Event: Salamanders with Patrick Moldowan
May 30 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree
In this LIVE event, Patrick will give a short introduction to this study before answering your questions about salamanders and the BLISS project.
Warm spring rains stir Spotted Salamanders from underground over-wintering sites and cue them to move towards Bat Lake where they will breed before returning to the forest in the fall. On this journey, salamanders will be intercepted by a drift fence encircling the entire lake. The fence allows Patrick and his team to collect information about the salamander populations here including the timing of these events in spring and fall, body condition and survival rates.
